Filopic is operated by Negoita David Alexandru (“Filopic”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Filopic iOS app and this website, why, and the choices you have.

Important · Third-party AI processing

AI in Filopic is powered exclusively by OpenAI

Filopic uses a single third-party AI provider, the OpenAI API (operated by OpenAI, L.L.C.), and uses it for one thing only: creating your edited photo. We do not use any other AI provider. When you create a result, the photo you selected and the mode and style you chose are sent over an encrypted connection from our servers to OpenAI and processed in real time to generate your result.

What is sent: only the photo you choose and the style you pick. Filopic does not ask you to type anything, and nothing is sent from your photo library unless you pick it.
Who receives it: OpenAI, acting as our service provider, solely to return the result to you.
Never sold, never used for training by us: we do not sell your photos or results, use them for advertising, or use them to train AI models, and we do not share them with anyone else for those purposes.
Your consent: the app asks for your permission before the first photo leaves your device. If you decline, nothing is uploaded.
How OpenAI handles it: OpenAI processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. According to OpenAI’s API data policies, content sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI’s models, and may be retained by OpenAI for up to 30 days solely to monitor for abuse, unless the law requires it to be kept longer. Information we collect

Photos you provide. The photos you add, the mode and style you choose, and the results generated from them.
An anonymous identifier. Filopic has no sign-up. The app creates an anonymous session and a random device token so your credits and creations stay with your device. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
Purchase records. Purchases are handled by Apple. We receive a transaction record to add credits to your balance; we never receive your card or billing details.
Basic technical data. Server logs such as request times and error information, used to keep the service working and prevent abuse.
Support messages. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message.

How we use it

To generate, store and show you the results you asked for.
To keep track of your free and purchased credits.
To prevent fraud and misuse, and to fix problems.
To reply when you contact support.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your photos to train our own AI models.

Who we share it with

OpenAI — image generation only, as described above.
Supabase — cloud database, file storage and server infrastructure where your photos, results and credit balance are stored.
Apple — in-app purchases and purchase verification.

If you choose to share a creation, the people and apps you share it with can see it. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Storage and retention

So that you can find your results again in My Creations and pick up where you left off, the photos you upload and the results Filopic generates are stored in a private storage bucket on our cloud provider, Supabase. They are not public: they can only be opened by your device’s anonymous session, through links that expire after a short time. They are kept until you delete them with Delete My Data, which removes them permanently.

All data is transferred over encrypted connections. Our providers may process data in countries other than your own, under appropriate safeguards.

Deleting your data

You can delete everything at any time, directly in the app: Profile → Delete My Data. This permanently removes your uploaded photos, generated results and anonymous profile from our systems. Unused credits are deleted with it and cannot be restored. You can also email support@filopic.com and we will help.

Permissions

Filopic asks for camera access to take photos, and photo library access to pick photos and save results. You can change these in iOS Settings at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Filopic is rated 4+ on the App Store. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and it never asks for a name, email address or other contact details. Because the photos you choose are sent to OpenAI to create your result, we recommend that children use Filopic with a parent or guardian. A parent can remove everything at any time with Profile → Delete My Data or by emailing support@filopic.com.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the way we share data with AI providers changes, the app will ask for your consent again.
